Day 3: Taiping Zoo and Penang
The day started with Dim Shum with Michelle and her family. Yup with all her extended family which was like so funny. It took us 5 tables so that all of us could sit into it. LoL...the uncle has so much difficulty finding all the places for us to sit. Once we were done with the breakfast, we took a tour to the Taiping Zoo. Although it was smaller than KL zoo, it was nicer to walk as we only walk around the whole zoo. I didn't take the camera with me as Judd was taking pictures on my behalf. LoL....his camera taking skills wasn't really bad at all. This were some of the pictures that he had taken.
Once we finished walking on the Taiping Zoo, we took our leave and went straight to Penang with Jason driving me there. It was nice to have people to drive me around. As usual, the Penang bridge was horrible as there was a terrible jam and by the time we reached the hotel, it was already 5 pm. We rest for a while before we walked out for a walk at Komtar. In Kompar, we only realized that we w
ere living quite close to Mackenister Road we decided to have dinner there. We ordered as usual a lot of food and this time we ordered Lobak, Mee Rebus, Charcoal Fried Kwai Tiew and Ikan Panggang which was superb. All the food was nice to eat. After eating, we head back to the hotel and took a drive to USM to look for some pan cake at Super Tanker Food Court but sadly it was closed. We headed back and slept for the night.
Day 4: Penang
We woke up around 8 am and went down for the hotel to have breakfast which quite disappointed me as it was quite bad. After breakfast, we drove out to buy some Dragon Biscuit but it was closed. So we back to the hotel and went out to have a walk in Komtar again and that was when I bought a lot of things including some presents. By the time we finished shopping, we went to eat some nice Asam Laksa, Kiew Teow Goreng again and the nice Cendol near to the Octopus Overhead Bridge (Lee 2008). Once we were done with the food, we drove out to buy our tickets to go up Penang Hill which the attendant told us that we have to wait till 6 pm. We bought the ticket a
nd went to Kek Lok Si for assam laksa and a quick walk. Once it was 5 pm, we went back to Penang Hill and waited impatiently to go up the hill.
At 6 pm, we went up the hill and changed train in between. I hated the ride as it was slow and I couldn't really stand the slowness. It was worse than turtle walking. Once up the hill, it was cold like nobody business and again I didn't really enjoy it much other than the nice scenery. It even started raining. So, I quickly bought some 'Hands up' and 'Feet down' souvenirs and headed down the hill. While we were heading down, another drama took over the train as some Malay dude pushed an old lady and the Chinese family made a fuss out of it which caused us 30 minutes of late. Man...by the time we reached down, I was so bored and tired and angry. We drove to Super Tanker for dinner but both of us were not in a mood to even enjoy the food. We packed some Nasi Kandar along the way and drove home in silence. With my irritating mode taking over, I sang high and out of tune the entire journey and by the time we reached Kampar, it was already late. Haiz!
