Finally an update for the year 2009. Went for a long trip again last month while waiting for my Malacca trip for this month. Think going to China next month really works me to have fun through out. Maybe it is also because I want to spend time with my kids as they are very special to me this year. Malacca trip, here I come.
Anyhow, last month was filled with fun too as the Perak and Penang trip was spectacular. Got to meet up with my Uni friends and also....most important, got to eat. I love to eat and trying to eat as much as possible before I go over. This was the fun part of the trip.
Day 1: Kampar
The journey started off on the 27th of December where Jason and I headed down to Perak early because I thought of doing my second root canal treatment but ended up not able to as the dentist was full. Before we head back to Kampar, we made a stop at Bidor to bring him to eat my favorite 'Sang Har Mee' and surprised that the aunty actually introduced us to 'Fish Slice Wat Tan Ho'. I was so happy that I finally touched the fish as it was delicious. I usually don't eat fish at all.
Once we had our meal, we went back to Kampar and rest for a while before we eat again. This time to my favorite Assam Laksa with Pork Ribs. It was something that can only be found in Kampar as people don't serve Laksa with pork ribs. Although the duration between both meals were only 2 hours apart. I was contented to have. After the meal, we went to Tesco to do some shopping before we went back to head down to Batu Gajah to pick up Linda to Ipoh. Head down to Wooley to have the Curry Mee and this time I had it without the cockles and it was nice. Then we went over to Fantasy to have some ice cream. Yeah...it was an ordinary ice cream but it came with half a honey dew. Wahaha...its the old type of ice cream serving man. Check it out.
After the ice cream, I sent Linda back before we headed back to Kampar to sleep.
Day 2: Taiping
After the trip that I had done with Sailo and they all, I knew exactly how long would it take to go to Taiping and yet I was late for Julz wedding as we woke up late that morning. Had some porridge before we headed out to Taiping. Took us quite some time but we were finally able to reach there at around 12 pm but Julz church wedding had started than. And so I decided to spend some time driving around Taiping to look for the place where we can eat. We found an eatery place near to the taxi stand and it was what we have been looking for all these while. We went there to have a look around and we then decided to feast on the food there. I ordered a fried keau tiew but it wasn't really superb. It was different from the rest as it was slightly more wet. Jason ordered the prawn noodle which wasn't really something to shout about too. Once we had our lunch, we went out to walk around the town before we went to The Store while waiting for Michele and Cat to call back.
After walking for some time, they called and we were ushered to the some houses. It was like a new concept or anything as it was obvious that we were placed in a room in one of the houses and the houses wrote something about....houses for rent...good for weddings and obviously, Julz came out from there. Theirs were the first house while mine was the 3rd house. There weren't any fence there but then...the concept looks cool. Anyhow, Jason took his nap while I went to see Theresa in her room to have a chat before we went out for the wedding dinner.
There was nothing much to do at the wedding and since it was raining heavily (Taiping is titled Land of the Wet), the dinner started later than half and hour and my friend came even later than that. The first few course of meal were so-so but the rest was superb but a bit slow. We whacked almost everything on the table but there was one thing that seriously annoyed me. The wedding was a karaoke wedding and therefore you have people singing Mandarin songs which were out of tune all the time. Getting bored, my friend's husband took over and sang some English songs. XD It was nice to see her singing as she was a coach who coaches choir in her church. The wedding ended at around 10.30 pm and since Jason didn't go to the wedding dinner with
me, I had to take him out for dinner and we went to a nice makan place near to Tasik Taiping. I ordered some nice chicken wings which took me 30 minutes before I could have a taste of it. The aunty was extremely slow but it was superb. It
was one of the best chicken wings that I ever tasted. Once I bought the chicken wings, I went back home and had a mini gathering with my sisters and we had a fun time chatting. Miss the good old university days where we used to hang out together. At around 2 am, I went back to my room and had a close eye for tomorrow.
